Early river valley civilizations, 3500-450 B.C.
Today in western civ we started classes by taking notes on pages 26-34 in the book the was given to us. I managed to get key notes on pages 26-27 and a little bit of page 28. We learned about the earliest city-state places that were established. In 2660 B.C. Egypt’s old kingdom develops. In 3000 B.C. City-states formed in sumer, Mesopotamia, in 1792 B.C. Hammurabi developed the first code of laws which were used to punish those who committed crimes and anything they found punishable at the time. In 1750 B.C. Indus Valley civilization started to decline, in 1027 B.C. The zhou dynasty formed in China. The 4 rivers that were used to help this early civilization grow and mondernize were the Nile river, Indus River, huang river, and the Chang Jiang (Yangtze river). These were some key things we Learned in class today but to end class we had a 15 minute long discussion about pig theives and how the punishments in the early times of growing. We argued about if certain people got easier punishments and if wealth mattered in the deciding of level of punishments.
